About Me!

Hi there, I'm Breana! I'm a performer based in DFW, and I'm set to graduate from the University of Texas at Arlington with my BFA in Musical Theatre in the spring of 2024. Some credits of mine include Esmeralda in The Hunchback of Notre Dame at Grand Prairie Arts Council, Mopsa in Head Over Heels and Lulu in Cabaret at UTA, and Martha in Spring Awakening at Lakeside Art Center.

While at the UTA, I learned the importance of creating space for artists of color and being able to tell a story from different perspectives. One devised theatre project, in particular, solidified this understanding. In 2022, I engaged in a partnership study between UTA and MIT. Students from both Universities collaborated in a two-semester course titled "Design for the Future" to present a piece at MIT that encapsulated the meaning of community, struggle, and finding joy.

I grew up in a Mexican and Laotian household, so my heritage is very important to me, especially as an artist. Being raised by an immigrant mother allowed me to be proud of my Laotian roots when there wasn't much representation other than my own family to show me how beautiful it is to celebrate my culture. Now, as an artist, I strive to represent myself as well as my community.

My other hobbies include knitting, crocheting, and sewing. I love to make beanies, scarves, blankets, and any type of applique you can think of! I also made my high school prom dress, which is the project I'm most proud of.
